What is CrossFit?

CrossFit is a training program that builds strength and conditioning through extremely varied and challenging workouts.

What is WOD?

WOD stands for Workout of the Day.

What will I be doing?

At CrossFit Yelm you will learn the foundational functional movements. From there we work through bodyweight to weighted exercises based on your comfort level and ability. You will use equipment such barbells, kettlebells, rowers, assault bikes, weighted balls, and much more.

What are classes like?

Coach led classes usually last for approximately an hour at a time. The first 15-30 minutes of that time is devoted to the warm-up and skill work. The coach will then spend 5-10 minutes going over the WOD and helping scale movements. The remaining time is dedicated to the WOD (ranging from 5-25 minutes) and cool down.

Is CrossFit safe?

Of course! CrossFit (like anything else) is safe when done correctly. Here at CrossFit Yelm we focus on teaching you the proper way to move through the workouts and our coaches are here to help you scale movements/weight to meet your ability.

CrossFit looks really hard. Do I have to be super fit?

Absolutely not. We encourage all people, of all fitness levels to try CrossFIt. The workouts ARE challenging, even for long time CrossFitters. This is all for a good reason, though. They are meant to challenge and improve your ability. The expertise of our coaches and the ability to scale movements and weights make it safe and fun for everyone.

How do I get started?

Head over to our contact page and send us a message. You may also feel free to drop by the gym and speak to one of our coaches on duty. They will be able to get you set up. You can try us out for a couple of days and if you fall in love (we know you will) then we can get you signed up and started with the basics course.

I'm already a CrossFitter. Do you guys have drop-ins?

Yes! We love having athletes visit us and experience CrossFit Yelm. You're welcome to drop in to any of our scheduled class times and speak to the coach on duty. The drop in fee is $15.
